EZ-Bar Curl

The EZ-bar curl is a barbell curl on an angled bar: easier on your wrists than a straight one.

Setup

Grab the EZ-bar on the bends with an underhand grip, hands about shoulder-width. Stand tall, feet hip-width, knees soft. Elbows at your sides, shoulder blades slightly back.

Execution

  1. Stand tall, take the EZ-bar by the outer grips, elbows pinned to your sides — starting position.
  2. Exhale and curl the bar up to your shoulders, squeezing your biceps at the top.
  3. Inhale and lower it back down slowly.

Common mistakes

  • Swinging your torso — if the weight won't move without it, it's too heavy.
  • Elbows drifting forward at the top — keep them at your sides, or the biceps get a break.
  • Dropping the bar — lower it under control to nearly straight arms.
  • Using the narrow bend when the wide one feels better — pick the bend that doesn't strain your wrists.
