Abs

Ab Wheel Rollout

The ab wheel rollout has you roll out forward with a wheel: your abs hold your torso against the stretch, one of the hardest core exercises.

Setup

Kneel and grab the wheel handles under your shoulders. Tuck your hips, brace your abs and glutes. Back slightly rounded, not arched.

Execution

  1. Kneel down, hold the wheel with both hands on the floor in front of you — starting position.
  2. Inhale and roll it forward slowly, stretching out into a straight line without touching the floor.
  3. Exhale, brace your abs, and pull the wheel back to your knees.

Common mistakes

  • Lower back sagging at the far point — roll out only as far as your back stays flat.
  • Hips staying back while only your arms roll — your body moves as one line.
  • Coming back by folding at the hips — pull the wheel back with your abs.
  • Starting with full rollouts — beginners do fine with a quarter range or rolling into a wall.
